At the intersection of elegance, empowerment, and enterprise stood the 2025 Women in Harmony Awards Luncheon, an invitation-only experience hosted by the National Urban League during Essence Festival weekend. Held under the powerful theme “Her Power, Her Prosperity,” the luncheon was a celebration of Black women not just as leaders, but as architects of generational wealth and change.

Honorees included beauty trailblazer Danessa Myricks, who has revolutionized the makeup industry with inclusive products and visibility for Black creators, and Mara Brock Akil, the visionary behind beloved TV series that put Black women’s stories front and center. Their recognition highlights what’s possible when Black women take ownership of their narratives, and their businesses.

Attendees, including powerhouse names like Jotaka Eaddy and Sergio Hudson, were surrounded by inspiration, from soulful performances by MAJOR and Howard Hewett to the signature “Self-Care Lounge,” where guests experienced wellness offerings and beauty consultations. “Each year, the National Urban League is pleased to highlight empowering women who are mission-aligned with the critical work we are doing,” said Rhonda Spears Bell, NUL’s Chief Marketing Officer.

More than a luncheon, this was a moment of intentional community-building, where CEOs, creatives, and changemakers came together to affirm one truth: Black women in business are not only thriving, they are transforming culture.
